An excellent but heavily underdogged Dunellen team was slated to play New Brunswick in the state Group Iplayoffs. When the playoff slots were announced just about everybodycounted Dunellen out except for the players and coaches. The team, led by seniors Troy Nagel, Inkwan Han, Joe Lockwood, Lester Pataki and Rob Pottsgave Dunellenone of their best seasons and pulled off probably one of the biggest upsets in Dunellen High School football history defeating New Brunswick. With the win, Dunellen went on to play Keyport in the State Championship.
